What is Play Therapy?
Zephyr’s Creative Play Therapy service is here to provide your child with an opportunity for 1-2-1 support with their grief and feelings, following the loss of their sibling(s) in your family.
This service will run usually as a weekly session at the same time, in the same place. The consistency and frequency are an important part of the therapy process, as this develops the trusting relationship to allow a safe environment in which a child can show self-expression and have an opportunity to play out their emotions and problems securely. In this therapy, children can enter into a dynamic relationship with their therapist that enables them to express, explore and make sense of their difficult and painful feelings/experiences.
Zephyr’s pilot service will offer 1 initial conversation with the wider family, followed by 8 x 1-2-1 sessions for your child. As the child’s parent(s)/carer(s) you will complete the referral form, and then meet with our therapist Sharon. Together you will talk through the context and background of your loss, your child’s interests, and anything you feel it’s important to know.
You can save or download the below information about Play Therapy and how it works.
What is a pilot?
A pilot project is how we check if something works for you, and for us. This initial project will begin with a small focus group and we will go through an evaluation process once it is complete to ensure that we can make adjustments and take feedback into consideration before it is formally launched. If you and your child would like to take part in this pilot, please get in touch with Carly at contact@zephyrsnottingham.org.uk
