A new opportunity to support Zephyr's through the Big Give. During October, and to tie into Babyloss Awareness Week, Zephyr's will have a special one week Appeal, during which all donations given will be matched.
Match funding means your donation will make twice the difference to our yoga and creative therapeutic grief support.

Hope can feel hard to hold onto if your heart is overflowing with grief. How can space be made available, to notice, accept, or allow hopefulness, when such deep sorrow runs through us after loss?...
Grief resides, it doesn't go away, cannot be pushed aside... yet there is hope.

Can it be that the depths of these emotions, can sometimes sit, side by side, or journey hand in hand?
Is it harder to know what's what, if we feel such dictomy, or might it be that the depth of grief itself, can only be so intricately known and felt, because of we have loved so deeply?

A swirl of thoughts, questions and musings, inspired by the @coatofhopes which currently resides at @wemakeourway where many of our Zephyr's activities take place. A coat threaded with a vastness of emotion, as far and wide as it has travelled; carrying the stories of it's patchwork people-powered pilgrimage, stitched by several hands, worn by many walkers, held, and shared, in song and heart...

There are times when you can see and meet this coat, wear it too, first made by Barbara Keal, the coat will be in Nottingham until 25th Sept. With chance to drop in (today and next week) with time to get sewing with @lived_in_clothes and writing with @sophielouisastephens to watch the film of the coat's first journey 'of Walking on Thin Ice' by Benjamin Wigley.

Our activities happen at all different times of the week... on Saturdays and Sundays some of our monthly and seasonal programme runs, meaning that those who work (Mon-Fri) can still find support in our charity.

Zephyr's Yoga Circles need no previous yoga experience for you to attend, these Sunday mornings are usually very slow paced, incorporating yoga nidra, and other very gentle practices.

Into the Woods is our playful, woodland based monthly session for families. Open to all brothers, sisters, cousins, parents, carers, grandparents and the wider family. There's never a focus on loss, but always the chance to share (for adults and children alike)

Saturday 28th September, 10am-12noon.

Wellbeing Walks take place at Colwick Country Park, and allow the bereaved parents/grandparents who join us, some time to really slow down, to notice how it feels to be on nature, and to connect with with natural space around us and how we feel.

Our Evening drop ins return tomorrow, Thursday 5th Sept, 7.30-9 30pm. These are open to anyone bereaved through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby or child, however recently or long ago, and whether or not you've been to Zephyr's before...

Join us from 7.30pm where you can expect to find members if our Zeph team, Carly and Baishali, with a warm welcome, a warm cuppa, and gentle opportunity to meet and be with others who understand.

There's never any pressure to chat. You are welcome to join in, or simply to listen. You can browse our library of books and resources, take time to sit by yourself if you wish, and know that you are welcome to stay for as long (or as short) as you like.

We light candles.
We talk about the 'everyday' stuff.
We talk about our babies and children.
And we hold space for each other.

Tomorrow members of Zeph's family will be gathering with his Granny Marilyn, as she marks her 70th birthday with friends and family. Very kindly, instead of presents, Carly's Mum has asked for donations to our charity... She's hoping to raise £200 for her birthday!

By giving to us in this way, Marilyn joins lots of others who kindly give in memory to our charity; those who choose to mark a special day for their family too - whether that's celebrating a "big" birthday or anniversary, or marking a day and remembering in memory of someone who has died...

Tea (and coffee!) ah, warm drinks are so important to our charity.

Wrapping your fingers around a lovingly made cuppa can bring such comfort. Sipping on a warm drink made by a fellow bereaved parent, can bring comfort yet deeper still. Our Evening Support sessions always begin with the lighting of a candle. Every visitor passes around a shared flame, from which we each light a candle in loving memory. The warmth and glow of love shines brightly through our evenings of informal conversation and support, and at the end, when it is time to go, we stop to blow out the flames, thought our love will never extinguish.

Our library has a selection of books specifically

Our library has a selection of books specifically for children - for grieving brothers and sisters - books that range from those on general loss and grief using metaphor and animals to tell their stories, as well as those on coping when someone dies, and some that are specifically about the death of a baby or child.

These are always available to borrow, and we tend to have some at our monthly Into the Woods Saturday mornings too.

Our volunteers Jeanette and Di are working on cataloguing everything in our collection - do let us know if there's anything you'd like to borrow or recommend that we add to our shelves?

Every other month Carly runs an informal Catch Up for any staff, healthcare professionals, other charities or organisations, to check in with what's happening at Zephyr's - for anyone who's professional life might bring you into contact with bereaved parents, or family members of any age.

Join in on MS Teams to keep up to date with what's on, find out about our therapeutic programme of activities, or how to refer someone for our counseling or support, and much more besides. Plus meet the others on the call, and have chance to find out who else is working to support parents and families affected by pregnancy loss or the death of a baby or child too.

Our Evening meet ups are open to anyone who wants

Our Evening meet ups are open to anyone who wants to come along, pull up a chair at the table, have a cuppa, and find community, support and chance to talk, listen or share.

With a focus on our losses, and how we're feeling, but never any set schedule or plan for what we'll talk about, we sit and hold space for anyone affected by pregnancy loss, or the death of a baby or child, to come together.

We light candles, talk about whatever we feel moved to, and offer respect and care, valuing everyone's feelings despite any differences in experience.

You are welcome to come along, to drop in, as you feel able to. You are also welcome to reach out and be in touch beforehand, if chatting first, can help you feel able to come, or can offer chance for you to find out what to expect...

Today, our CEO Carly has been reflecting on speaking truth, honesty and connection; that words aren't always easy to find when we are grieving and feeling, or when we are at a low ebb. Yet, it is okay to share (here on the squares of social media, or in other places too) how we really are.

Today sees the beginning of 'Rainbow Baby Week' th

Today sees the beginning of 'Rainbow Baby Week' the third annual week of celebrating and exploring the feelings and experiences of those who become pregnant after loss.

Before we go further, we just wish to acknowledge that this isn't necessarily for everyone; for some the idea of pregnancy after loss may feel too raw, too soon, too scary and uncertain to contemplate, for others another pregnancy after loss may just not be possible, or this may not be what you want, and for some the very term 'rainbow baby' itself may sit uncomfortably... however you feel, please only read on if you're happy to.

Throughout the week - which is led by Amneet and our friends at @willowsrainbowbox - they will be sharing gathered thoughts and reflections on ttc and pregnancy after loss. Each day ahead has a planned theme with personal experiences that will shared. This will end in a celebration of Rainbow Baby Day on 22nd August.

If this is where your heart and head is at, then you will likely find some comfort, support, and connection by visiting their pages... If you're local to Nottingham, and you're considering pregnancy after loss, ttc, or you are currently pregnant following previous loss(es) then please know that our HOPE group is also here for you, and to support you. We meet once a month and offer antenatal type sessions, with activities such as yoga, mindfulness, crafts and more, all in the safe space of knowing you can hare exactly how you feel.

Our HOPE evening will be a little different this month - for August only, we're meeting a week earlier (than the usual last Monday of the month) due to the bank holiday. The session will also be online, instead of in person.
